When Love Comes
When love comes, will I know?
Will I see it, feel it, taste it?
Will I run and hide and then react too slow?
Missing that one and only chance
For my heart to open and bestow
My undying love upon you?
Please let it not be so!
Will I be frightened and be so insecure?
Or seem too eager to be in love
Thus making you unsure?
Or will I lay open my heart and show you
A love that has all time to endure
And grow each and every day
Oh please, of this I must be sure!
True love, please don’t pass me by
It would be life’s final cruelty
To have not the experience, to laugh, to cry,
To feel my feet rocked from beneath my soul,
That feeling I yearn for but am afraid to try.
Oh please, when it comes
Make me not fear and think it a lie.
